  Company History

Marking Devices Publishing Company is the publisher of four magazines and the producer of three trade shows. Primarily devoted to the rubber stamp business, our flagship publication, Marking Industry Magazine was started in August 1907 as Stamp Trade News. The publisher title is held by David Hachmeister, just the third publisher in 94 years. He bought the company in 1981. Since then Marking Devices has since added, MIMEurope in 1992, Rubber Stampin’ Retailer in 1993, The Artstamp Retailer’s Trade Show in 1995, Marking Time Magazine in 2000, and in 2003, in conjunction with the British Stamp Manufacturer’s Guild, The European Marking Device Exhibition and Conference.

We act as the information nexus for the rubber stamp marketplace in both the U.S. and Europe. Our website furnishes links to the major manufacturers and retailers of stamps around the world. We cover both the art and business stamp markets.

Marking Industry is written for U.S. business stamp manufacturers. MIMEurope is written for European stamp makers. The EMDEC is for those interested in the manufacture of rubber stamps in Europe and around the world.

Rubber Stampin’ Retailer is written for the owners of artistic rubber stamp stores. Occurring twice a year, ARTS is the industry trade show.

Marking Time is the industry trade magazine for the time equipment industry. It is the official publication of the National Time Equipment Association.

The European Marking Device Exhibition and Conference (EMDEC) is the only trade show devoted exclusively to the needs of the European stamp manufacturer. EMDEC occurs every two years, with the next show planned of the spring of 2005. For a web-movie and pictorial review of the last show (London June 2003) please visit our EMDEC page.
